Welcome!
Welcome to the website of SCA Shire of Klakavirki. We are the Icelandic chapter of the Society for
Creative Anachronism, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to studying and recreating mediaeval
society between 600AD and 1600AD. The group is based in Akureyri, northern Iceland and is part of
the Crown Principality of Insulae Draconis within
the Kingdom of Drachenwald
What do we do?
Members take part in many different activities, from arts and crafts such as music, needlework and cookery
to period combat styles, both heavily armoured and renaissance fencing. We also have the occasional mediaeval
feast, cooked by members of the Shire. Our regular meetings are:
- Fighter practice: (new time for 2008) every Tuesday at 17:30 in the gymnasium at the University of Akureyri
- Dance practice: final Thursday of the month at 19:00 in the gymnasium at the University of Akureyri (in garb)
- A&S meeting: (new time for 2008) every second Thursday (unless there's a dance practice) at 19:30 at one of the Shire members' homes
- Pot luck day: second Saturday of the month, starts at 14:00 (location varies).
