Revel in the Midnight Sun II

When: May 26th 2006, 14:00 hrs until late
Where: Finnastaðir, Nr. Akureyri, Iceland

As the sun nears its zenith the people of the northernmost isles gather to celebrate the endless day. We invite you to come and join us in the land of fire and ice for a day of games, competitions and maybe even a little martial activity all to be rounded off with a feast in the evening sunlight. The calf we intend to spit-roast has already been chosen and is being fattened even now.

Event Schedule

The schedule so far looks like this:
Friday 25th May - Tour of northern Iceland, with the potential for whale-watching, historic waterfalls and geothermal spas.
Saturday 26th May

14:00-18:00 Games, competitions, classes, fencing/heavy demonstration, tree-planting
18:00-19:00 Prepare for feast
19:00-22:00 Feast
22:00-23:00 Clean-up.

Sunday 27th May - A chance to do a bit more sight-seeing (we'll decide on this once everyone's together).

Other information

Event fee: 3,500 Ikr (16+ yrs), 1,800 Ikr (12-15 yrs). Children under 12 free.

Accomodation: Camping space is free on site and some indoor crash space is also available. Nearby hotels are expensive but the local youth hostel is both reasonably priced and comfortable.

A note on weapons: Iceland has strict laws regarding weapons and any gentles intending to bring heavy or light weapons should contact the steward in advance so that she can arrange for a temporary weapons permit.
